Just got my first Izula today in the mail! I was curious on what kind of finishing knot you guys put on your Izulas.

I have tried a square knot, but I dont feel comfortable with it -it doesnt seem like the perfect knot for the job. I tied it on the inside of the loop and melted it secure. This is how I have it now. If there are no other ideas It will do this way.

I also tried a figure of eight knot, but it was too hard to tighten right up against the handle.

Besides those knots, what would you guys recomend. I am looking for the best tightness and lasting retention.

Thanks

I finished mine like the one's in hwpaintballer's photo. I cut the chord about 1/8" or so from the knot and heated it with a lighter until it was almost flush with the knot. After it cooled for a couple of seconds I took my finger and gently pressed on the molten end and formed it into the knot. You cannot even tell that it is there, just smooth all around. Note: You have to time this just right or you will burn the ever loving piss out of your finger (ask me how I know). The ONLY thing hotter is the little brass nut on top of a Coleman lantern!

I tried a bunch of different knots.

Right now I am using a regular old square knot, melted to hell and pressed flat. It is ugly as sin, but holding very well.

Works for me.

Thanks guys. I am using the same method you are tripton -with the knot tied on the inside of the knife hole, and melted secure.

I just read another post about the same issue. One guy used a square knot that was backed up with an " up the handle, overhand knot reversal"-I dont even know what I mean by that. Here is a link if you want to check it out. It is really only a few simple steps beyond the square knot. Here, the one in orange:

I think I will try this one soon
