So I am just curious if anyone else has thought about putting a small kit in with the new izula handles. I am going to hollow it out just a touch and make enough room for a small fish kit, a couple split shots a few hooks a swivel or two and some line, maybe a small firesteel as well. I figure if it doesnt work out I can just get another set of scales. I am going to try this tonight, hopefully finish it up by tomorrow.

I was thinking about this as well. Post pics when you get done. I'd love to see a HEST-like mod for the Izula so I can carry a small firesteel.

i'd also like to see some pics! i wish the screws that came with the Izula scales were for flat head like the HEST. if you wanna get to the gear inside you gotta have the right bit or bust them off.

I will try the last time I coundnt get them to work so if anyone has any suggestions or help let me know. got the majority of the kit to work though I got 2 small hooks, 1 larger hook, 3 split shots, 1 swivel, 9 ft of 10 lb. spyderwire, and a sewing needle to fit. I wont be done till i get this firesteel to fit though, its small 1/8"x1" so it'll go just needs a little assistance.

I would like to see some pics as well of what you got so far, I dremeled some voids out the night I got them, so far there is some snare wire in there.

Actually, you might be surprised at what can turn a phillips screw. I always keep a P38 can opener on my keyring and I use the bottom corner of it to turn phillips screws all the time, including the screws for my RC-4 MOLLE back. I haven't gotten my Izula and scales yet, but I imagine it will work great on those too. Most anything that will fit a smallish flat head screw will fit a phillips as well. If it's too big to fit normally, just use the corner!

The handle scales come with allen heads though.
