Izula handle scales or para cord wrap?

I've been busy for the past couple months with work, still am, but I decided since I had some free time to hop on here and see if RAT had any new temptations.... err products. I just saw a thread with some scales for the Izula, so now I'm curious, which one is more comfortable the scales or just a paracord wrap? Also which one rides better in the pocket? I've gifted two izulas, and I've wrapped a few, I keep one in my truck's glove box and I occasionally carry it, with the current wrap I have on it it rides great in the pocket and is comfortable to handle, and I;m in the mindset of if it's not broke don't fix it, but I wanted to hear from a few who may have carried izulas with the scales. Thanks :thumbup:
 
Well I have heard on this board that people love them, though I don't have them on mine.

ps. They have changed their name to ESEE :P
 
My blade is stripped, ACU paracord wrap and it has a forced patina on it.

What I did was wrap the handle in paracord and then found an old bike inner tube, the smallest I could find. with the use of a vise and a friend I was able to pull/stretch the rubber inner tube over the handle area. then got some sand paper to scuff up the rubber tube so it's no longer smooth and now it's a bit rough and has much better grip. the paracord underneath ads what acts as finger grooves and fits real nice in the hand.

The paracord is more comfortable and carries slightly better. The scales are tougher and easy to clean.

I have scales on my EDC. I am not in love with them, but I have them, and they are nice.

Its really a personal preference thing.

If you are going to get it bloody or wet a lot, I would lean towards the scales.
 
New guy here :)

I recently purchased two Izulas (one pink for the gf, and one black for me). I put scales on the pink one and paracord wrapped the black one. To be honest, there seems to be a benefit to both.

Even though the scales are pretty tiny and do aid the grip ALOT, the paracord wrapped Izula just feels more compact to me. I plan to use my izula as a concealed EDC so the slimmer profile suits me better.

With that said, I will probably buy a second set of scales some day, because they do feel really nice on this fine little blade.

Love the scales on mine. Before I picked them up I had a paracord wrap and the knife just did not feel right.
 
I bought the scales with mine. I like the way it bulks up the grip to fill your hand better without being too bulky. I plan on carrying mine in my pocket.
 
I have scales and paracord. I like them both. But if I'm not doing alot of cutting I like my Izula naked. :) That's my Edc because it's more stealth and I'm not usng it enough to hurt my hand
 
Try the scales, if you don't like them you will have little trouble selling them on the secondary market.

welcome back h.w! i haven't bothered with getting scales, mostly because i like the way the wrap feels. if i get a second one, i'll try 'em out.
 
Is there anyone who prefers to leave the izula naked?
It seems you don't see many left as is...

I planned on leaving one nekid, cord wrapping one, and putting pants on the other. Just need to decide which of the three colors will be dressed and which will be left as born.
