There's been threads on cord wrapping versus not on the Izula.

Has anyone bought a can of that paint on bedliner, and just coated the handle with that?

Good idea!

I've noticed people using "overgrip" (some sort of tennis racquet handle wrap) on Spyderco Mules. This may work equally well on the Izua? How about skater's grip tape?

its a little too soft for my taste, however along the same idea as Cpl.Pun.... found.

Home depot sells cans of this insulating rubberized coating for tool handles, like the old Klein dikes use to have. Just dip it and let it dry, it will form to the shape of what dips in it, and it has different colors. Once it dries if you don't like it, you can just cut it off with a razor and it will fall away from the metal without damage.

That sounds awesome!!

A+ Idea. I agree ,I just not found the color I am after yet...

+11  great ideas flying around in here.

If you cant decide a color you could always just dip it once in each color....making it kind of like a rainbow.......nevermind(not gay)

Did that very thing to my old Becker Necker. Works like a charm. It provides a very grippy surface, and I believe it is chemical-resistant, so no problems with anything getting through to the underlying metal. I stripped it off a while back, and let me tell you, it sticks pretty darn well to the coating on the handle. I had to scrape it off in some parts. 2 things I would do differently next time: 1) paint it on, instead of dipping it. The larger rubber chunks adhered to the surface, and made for a lumpy grip, with the dipping method, and 2) cord-wrap it first, then do the coating. Makes the grip beefier, and the paracord adds just a bit of cushion. Not to mention, it would make removal of the whole mess a lot easier if you ever decide to go back to the original state.

I think Home Depot just carries red, yellow, black and blue in that tool grip liquid compound. I'd rather go with the paracord.

I wonder with the cord beneath the chem-coat, would it still be as durable and resistant to cracking, peeling, etc?

you know in the field whenever I had scales break on me I just grabbed the 1.29 a roll medical tape....

Man either your one hardcore sob or you need some better knives. Ive knicked one side up but never out right broken a set off, let alone plural.
like i said HARDCORE :D

If you wrap the paracord tightly, I can't see it being a problem. That stuff is pretty flexible, and durable. Put a few coats on there, and you'd be good to go...

Well, painting on a bit of bed liner or dipping in the polymer stuff (forgot about that stuff, we used to use it in shop class all the time) isn't much trouble at all. And the Izula is considerably smaller than the HEST, so it may be preferable to some.
