I own Becker, Kabar, and Sog fixed blades. I just received my 1st Esse fixed blade. I realize the Izula II that I ordered is a smaller fixed blade knife, but I have to say I can tell the quality is outstanding, and it will perform BIG... The sheath is rock solid, and it is shaving sharp. I have no doubt that I will be ordering either the Esse 5 or 6 very soon. The only reason I ordered it was because I was looking for a smaller blade for edc, and from everything I read on this site, the majority loved esse products. Thanks All for the Great Advice.

Thanks Buckles!! I had asked forumn members opinions on the Ontario Rat 5 compared to the Esse 5 earlier. I was going to go with the ontario because of the price. No Way now. I can feel the quality in the esse. Hard to explain..Esse all the way for me!!. I'm checking now to see who has the best price for it. Members also suggested the 6 but I like the weight of the 5.

i believe i paid about $150 shipped for mine. Thats about the cheapest ive seen shipped. I cant post a link because that would be deal spotting, but if you do a quick search you shouldnt have any problem finding one. ESEE has their dealers listed on their website.

Congrats on your first ESEE! I myself just got my first this week in an ESEE 4 that I will hopefully be breaking in on a fishing trip this weekend. Along with you it has made me want others in the ESEE line and I will be saving up for the 6 and one of the Izulas.

Congrats to you too!! Good luck with your 4. I really like that blade. Did you get the model with the orange G10 handle? Many people recommend the 6, but for me I like the thicker blade, thats why I want the 5. Just my opinion, but if you had the 5 or the 6, and carried the izula also, it pretty much would cover everything you would need.

The deeper and deeper I get into knives the more small fixed blades make sense IMO there way more sturdy than any folder and there and way easier to deploy and use also ESEE is an excellent manufacturer and the Izula is an excellent sized EDC knife.

I can totally relate to this. I had little to no interest in fixed knives for years... just folders. And now, not sure why, all of a sudden the light has shone on me and I totally "get" the magnificence of fixed knifes. Now that I have far more folders than I need, I sense a serious addiction to fixed blades brewing.

BTW, the Izula 2 is most assuredly in my future.
