I got my Izulas in the mail today. Ordered 3 Izula II kits from Knifeworks. One for me, one for my unborn son, one for my 2 yr old.
Two of them are serial number under 100 and the third is number 3!
I know some would say, "so what its a tool". Two of these are going in the safe for 10 year till the kids can use them but I was thinking about the low serial number one.

What do you guys think? Any special collector value for a low serial number Izula II? I think I'm going keep this one on ice with the others and order another one to use. Then when I break out the the boys' knives we'll all get to open them together?

Big thanks to the bladeforums for all the info that led me to these great knives.

I cannot comment on the collector value, but you never know.

As far as your plans for the other two knives, that is awesome. a knife is an excellent gift from father to son. and if you kept the low number with the other two it would be nice to open them all together.

do what you will, use and smile or store it but if you store it,please coat it will something or #3 won't be so sweet in 10years

i was expecting TTD to offer a premium for #3

to me whether # 3 or the one I carry which is 0987 still the same blade and the number does not matter that much to me it is about the tool :D
would be neat to have a low number but if it is in my hand it will get used , I have a pink Izula #007(pre-production model) and its been used

The first one I bought was s/n 0367 which matches the month and year I was born. I thought that was pretty cool so I decided to keep it unused and ordered another user.

I ended up ordering two, one for me and one for my step-son for Xmas. I ended up with #0982 and the step-son is getting #0984. I wonder what happened to 0983?:D

I'd wrap in bubble wrap and just look at it every February 29. :p

Or, you can send #0003 to me and let him rest beside his brother #0002. :D

Then teacher could send them both to me and one, two ,and three can hang out like the biggest happiest family ever.

Also, 1 is dangling around my neck awaiting whatever tasks the day may throw at it.

God bless,
Adam

ESEE knives aren't collector knives, first off its a production run so will limit its value regardless of serial number, now if it was a limited run then perhaps in 10 yrs you could sell it for lets say maybe a 20% profit.. is it worth it??:o

beside you'll be giving one to your 2 yr old in about 5 yrs, you watch and see:D

:D ..... Congrats on winning #0001 Adam, I had missed seeing that. :)

teacher,

Thanks. You using your two?

BTW, it's cool having the 1, but that is pretty awesome you guys getting the 2 and 3 randomly from orders.

God bless,
Adam

Adam,

No, I haven't used #2 yet, been using #16 and really like it.

It is kinda neat to get that low on a random chance. In fact I guess it was the lowest number anyone had a chance to buy since #1 was held out.

Kinda funny to think at one time #'s 1, 2, & 3 were laying in a stack all waiting their turn to be numbered and now we are talking about them.

Anyway, congrats again on winning #1. :)

Regards,
chuck

Its like an internet reunion for 1, 2, and 3. Kinda weird that we all came together on the same day on the same corner of the internet.

I'm not the collector type and I don't think I'd try to "invest" in collectable knives. I doubt I'd ever sell any of my knives but then all I really have that is nice is a Benchmade Snody 201, some Opinels and Victorinox Swiss Army Knives. Used to have some Moras but they make great gifts and my hunting buddy lost my last one last week.

I think I will put number 3 in the safe though. Wonder how long they'll stay in there till I give them to the kids or use mine? I think I had a pocket knife when I was 8 and I never cut off any fingers. We'll see.

With the coating on the blades they should stay rust free in a dehumidified gun safe right?

Maybe a little Mobil1 on the edge for extra protection? Mobil 1 is my 1911 lube of choice and I have a quart handy.

Yeah some grease/oil or maybe a silicon rubdown on the edge and etchings sounds like a good idea.

Stay safe, enjoy the blades, and teach the kids to use them well.

God bless,
Adam
