Thanks for posting the write up. I am curious about the edge sharpness. Obviously it's possible, did you contact anyone at RAT concerning it. Thinking about it probably not since you intended to put your own edge on it.
 
Nope, I figured it was just a fluke. As long as the edge retention and sharpness remain solid from here on out it's no concern of mine. Factory edges are always too thick for my liking, whether it's RAT, Spyderco, Scrapyard etc. so I always end up reprofiling them anyways.

What degree do you re profile them too?
 
I don't know for sure but I think it's about 10 degrees per side. I just lay the knife flat to the stone, then lift it up a few degrees and go with that.
