I received my June edition of Backpacker magazine today, and while I was flipping through it I came across a mini-gear review of the Izula. The review was very positive: "no-nonsense tool", "sails through tinder and rope", "all function", etc. They listed the price of $81 as a bummer. It is a rarity for a magazine like Backpacker to pay attention to any gear outside the PC-Green paradigm, so I was pleased to see the positive words.

To bad they can't use Google to find a better price on the internet:confused:

it's pretty standard in most magazine reviews to list the MSRP rather than the street price.

You don't have to Google. Just go topatriotknives.net Robert will sell you one. most colors in stock. He's great to deal with too.

I gave away my desert tan izula (to my dad) and I have to get another one, I have been directed more than once to patriot knives, just wanted to thank everyone for the great info..

I vote a national ban on MSRP. What a joke, drives me crazy. Buddy of mine told me he wasn't even considering a certain gun because it was $800. I was like dude, that's MSRP, street price is under $600.

If I had to, I'd pay MSRP for an Izula, it's certainly worth the $80, but I got both of mine shipped for just a few cents over $50 from New Graham.

glad it made into Backpacker mag- it has a good circulation and the Izula would be an ideal fixed blade for backpacking, even for the gram counters :)

this is true I can't think of many blades that are tough and lite and most weight weanies don't mind dropping a few bucks on gear

Did anyone see the June 2010 backpacker? There was a bunch of gear reviews and the ESEE Izula was one of the reviewed knives! They said it was a great knife, their only complaint was the price, but they took the price as $81 from the ESEE Website.

They should have done about 2 minutes of research and find a low and also a high price for the IZULA. everything about how good the knife was I'm not surprised. it's worth every penny.

very cool... the Izula deseres it... i am going to have to check this issue out... i have been a Backpacker magazine reader for many years...

whoops looks like I remade a thread that had already been made haha! Can't wait to go backpacking myself I got 3 trips planned for this summer so far and my Izula AND Rc-5 will be coming with me:)
