Izula in Orange?

Hi folks,

Noticed the Izula is offered in a rather fetching 'tactical pink' and was wondering if there was any plan to offer it in a high-vis safety orange, similar to the scales offered on the RC3?

Thanks.

or buy one, strip it, paint it orange with Krylon or spray epoxy enamel and bake it at 300 for about 35 minutes. This is a low enough temp to not hurt the heat treat, but will make the Krylon about as durable as Duracoat according to a gunsmith buddy of mine who has used both products.

i heard that ESEE needs at least 500 pieces for a new color, and there is a lot of tooling involved that is expensive, i agree with 1066vik, if you want that color it will have to be a DIY project.

Why would there be new tooling to change color?

Not "tooling", but another color would be more expensive because they wouldn't have a quantity discount and also because it would take time to set up the assembly process with the new color. That downtime costs. I would like to see orange also, but I don't think I'd buy one. It's just too easy to wrap the Izula with orange paracord.

im just going by what i was told.

Oh man. An orange Izula with OD paracord would look sweet.

Or a OD Izula with orange paracord:D

While I think an orange izula would be totally awesome it's not going to happen. Jeff's exact words are "NO MORE PART NUMBERS."

Color choices are cool. BUT with that said I agree with jeff on no more part numbers...at least until the current projects that are underway are completed and shipped. IMHO the new products are far more fun than new colors. Jeff and mike are super busy on bigger better things than to worry about a new color. Maybe try an orange dura-coat or the similar, plus it would be a unique blade.;)

If you REALLY want it you can find a powder coater in your area. My son and I refinish old Honda Z50's as a hobby and have parts powder coated all the time. It's not that expensive and almost any of them can do the textured coating.

I think an Orange Izulu would go over very well. Hell, I think they could sell out 500 just on a pre-order.

well the difficulty isnt the hard part, but it would be more stock numbers and ESEE has a lot of products happening right now.

Thanks guys, and thanks for all the helpful suggestions for modifications.

I'm not really the type to mod kit though and was looking for something 'off-the-peg' so to speak.

It's a shame though, I'd imagine that high-vis orange would be more popular than pink ...

I think getting some Orange Kydex and Orange paracord will be the best compromise, though I believe the bark river necker is possibly an option in this colour.

Thanks

I wasn't talking about ESEE doing it. I was saying if someone just had to have an orange Izula, find yourself a powder coater and get it done yourself. I bet you could find one you would agree to call you next time they ran a batch of orange and do it for 20 bucks or less.

Once knivesshipfree are back in stock I'll order a black one :)

Does anyone know of high vis orange shrink wrap that might fit the handle?

i think orange 550 paracord is your best bet. it is widely available, and then the next step would be the orange kydex :D
