Just got drug on my first cruise by my wife. When trying to board the ship, I was detained by the ship security guard. He stated that I would not be allowed to bring my knife on board. I stated that their policy was that the knife had have blade shorted than four inches in length and the Izula was only 2 and 5/8. He stated that it had an " intimidating" look about it. I asked him if it was painted pink if that would make a difference. He didn't answer. He did offer to call over the security supervisor and get her ruling on it. She came over looked at the knife and said no problem. I placed the knife around my neck and off I went. tTank god I had it. Their steaks were tough as leather and their steak knives were pointed butter knives. By the way, Carnival can KISS MY BUTT!!!

Way to stick it to the man!

What a wimp...love how the woman [eh sorry not to be sexist] thinks it's fine. She's a winner in my book. ;] haha

Never hurts to ask, great example here.

I went on a cruise last summer and of course looked up the rules regarding knives. They were allowed with, like you said, a max blade length of 4". So I took a few like I always do but was worried about going ashore with it. So I made sure I asked the guard at the door at the metal detector if it was a problem and they said as long as it was short enough not a problem. I felt a lot better running around a strange island with my arsenal of knives on me.

I will probably be going on another cruise before the end of the year so I hope they don't change their rule.

Also, the steak I had was pretty good. I was actually impressed with all the dinner food but to be honest I don't remember if it was Carnival I went on but I think it was.

If it was a different cook then he could have just been better at cooking steak without making it tough. My normal steak knife at home is my stainless Opinel #8 - slices anything easily!

Would've been hilarious if you had the "tactical pink" colored Izula.

AKnife,
That's exactly what I thought when I asked him about a pink knife. Loks like I'll have to get one for cruises.

Thanks,
Tom

"Intimidating look..." lol. Now I know why manufacturers put out a pink
one every now and then. LOL!
