Izula knife mod for fun....

I had this black Izula knife in a trade for part cash and I decided to take it out of the plastic and mess with it. I had a small pouch that needed something and decided that ants would be just the thing. I stripped the blade and glass beaded it to a nice matte finish then shot it with OD Green K&G Gun Kote. Then the fun began (sarcasm). I masked off some of the green with ant stencils and laid it out for the orange ants on both sides and around the edges. When that was done I laid out the black in the same way. Took a lot of time. After baking, here it is.....I think I like it. Now I need to make a big knife to go with it. Maybe put wild hogs on that one.......lol.

Sets at 230 or something like that, as I recall from when I did some 10/22 parts. Way, WAY below the 400+ that's needed to start drawing the temper. :)

Very cool, thanks for sharing.
Liking the idea for a matching large blade as well :) I look forward to seeing it if you do it.

That looks really good, I love the idea. The ants and color scheme almost remind me of some sort of urban camo or something

I like it too but "urban camo" would have these instead of ants :D Nice job though.

The temp is 300 degrees and does not affect the tempering. The finish does not flake of like powdercoat but wears off so you don't get flakes.

The roach camo idea has merits! Hmmmm...now I am thinking about something......
