So I don't remember who told me to do this, but a long time ago I modified my Izula with a flat notch on top to strike ferro rods with. I didn't realize how much metal I had taken off until afterward looking at, and someone suggested that I turn it into a Nessmuk... So that's what I did.

I used a dremel and a bastsard file to remove the portions in black. I used the cut-off wheels mostly, then used the bastsard file to even things out, and the drum sander to smooth/even it out too. I had already stripped it a while ago, thinking about picking up some black and green compound to put into the buffing wheel attachments and really fancy up the finish, but as it stands I'm amazed I managed to get the shape this good.

It was a pretty well used Izula, not much resembling a new one by much. So there was a lot of "other" grind work that contributed, but see for yourself...

I tried some "Brasso" but that stuff didn't do anything but make the room smell like a barn. I settled on using some 320 grit to finish it up, I think later on I will smooth up the spine a little more and finish it a little higher, 600 grit probably. Looks pretty good at 320 though... Put on a new edge, will give me some time to try it out.

It looks pretty good. You did a great job finishing it after grinding. The hump looks a bit steep on the handle side for my tastes, but that is only my opinion. It does appear to have altered the grip with the lowered spine, which could be good for certain types of cuts. Most importantly, if you like it, then it was a good job.
