So I recently jumped on the neck knife bandwagon and bought a Bark River bravo Necker, Becker Necker BK-11, and a Rat Izula.
The Barkie is my current fav, but the Izula is a close second. One thing I quickly noticed about the izula after using it a bit is that I like the rough grippy textured coating on the handle as it helps provide some welcomed grip when holding the knife. ...But I wasn't so fond of this extra grippy-ness on the cutting surface of the blade.
So I took some inspiration from the Barkie and did the following:
I don't have a beltsander :grumpy: so I just layed sandpaper down on a smooth piece of plywood and worked my way from 120 grit through 2000 grit, and finished on leather with black then green compound.
This is before....
-and here is after... it's not a perfect mirror since you can kind of still see some marks from the sandpaper...
...but it is now smooth as heck, and slices like a dream! -I figure I must've removed a millimeter or two from the blade thickness, and the edge is a bit thinner now too.
I finished by convexing the edge, it realy pops some hair now! -Here it is side by side with the Bark River .....Bravo & Izula ....separated at birth???
