I was so tweeked out when I ordered my first RAT knife, a tan Izula, that I had it sent 2nd day air... Tracking number said it was dropped off at my building today by UPS, at the "front door"...which is not my Apt door. Get home and of course its not there and my neighbor says they don't have it, either (no reason to think they are lying).
The guys at knifeworks are doing a nice job trying to track it down, but I'm either going to be waiting WEEKS now to get this resolved, or will have to buy another one from somewhere else.
Super depressed.
:(

Man, that sucks ...

I had one delivery put down by my front door, when I lived in a pedestrian zone ...
someone working with the dentist in the same house was kind enough to take it inside.

I still went to the office of the delivery service to give them my opinion about it.

UPS won't deliver to PO boxes...
I just got off the phone with them, and they claimed they put it under the mat at the front door. My neighbor would have had to step on it on the way to work to get out, so I don't know what to believe now.
Falling deeper and deeper into a dark depression...
Watched a bunch of paracord wrapping videos on youtube during lunch at work today, too.
Plus, I ordered a Tek Lok for it, which it looks like I will get BEFORE I see an Izula anytime soon.
Thats almost insulting.

take a deep breath, man. knifeworks will get it straightened out, just remember that if you're having something shipped via UPS you need to either ask them to hold it for pickup or require a signature so they don't just drop it and split. you can also get a delivery box at the UPS store if there's one in your neck of the woods. nothing's worse than missed delivery limbo.

Have it delivered to where you work (or where you'll be during the day). I don't know your work situation but that might be an option.

A long time ago, I ordered a cheap survival knife (the kind with the hollow plastic handle to put stuff in, before I knew better, LOL for $20.00). Anyway the UPS guy said he delivered it to our door, and he did not, I went round and round with the company for two weeks, the company said "we were lying", I called UPS and lodged a complaint.

Turns out the lazy UPS guy left it 3 houses down, very strange for UPS, they are always very sharp and nice guys, this guy was not, he did deliver it finally after 2 and half weeks and never even apologized, needless to say while we lived in that area I did not want anything delivered UPS.

STAY encouraged and keeping making calls, something will pan out. :)

I dont know if UPS has done it, but DHL screwed me once even though they held it.

I go to the the DHL store and say "I'm John doe and I'm here to pick up my package". They went and wandered around the back for some time until the guy comes out and says "Oh, that was signed for an hour ago". WTF!?!?!?!

Me: Well I didnt sign for anything so you better tell me who has my package.
DHL: Ummmm...Maybe we can pull up who signed for it. Nope, I cant read that signature.
Me: Are you F'ing kidding me!?!?! How the hell do you let someone walk in and grab a package with no verification of who they are!?!?!?!
DHL: Well it was signed for...
Me: Hey guess what? My last name is Willams so go grab the first package you find that says Williams on it...I'll sign my name so you cant read it and we'll call it even.

Then some cussing and yelling happened for the next 15 mins. I'm kind of surprised they never called the cops on me.

OP - I know how bad it sucks. Sorry for your loss.

I'm surprised they didn't call the cops too. That is nuts though. Sad we have to take a gamble on receiving a package.

Well, thanks for all the words of encouragement, but i know how this goes... I'm actually an Operations Manager at a major musical instrument company... So I deal with UPS personally everyday, and trust me, we're not dealing with rocket scientists here.
My biggest peeve is that they just didn't actually leave it at MY DOOR, which is on the SIDE of the place (huge brick place in downtown Columbus, OH). Therefore, all the sketchy people walking down the street get to see a package hanging out.
Signing for its not an option, cause my girl and I are never home. Work address is no good. I brought in a recent JK Handmade purchase to show a coworker and was told I could be fired for having it even in my car in the lot...so I don't think I'll be having an Izula delivered...
Anyhow, I'm stressed and p/o'd about it, but thanks for letting me vent to some folks who share my pain!
(also sweating about the Steelers shirt I'm having delivered here, too! Hopefully UPS will get the point)

I should also say that Roger at Knifeworks called me back right away(after putting a trace on the package), and had UPS call me, too. I've been on his end of the line myself, so I know what thats like, and he has done a great job so far. Had a story or two like y'all, how UPS "delivered" packages for him...only to actually "deliver" them later.
I'm starting to wonder, too, about the 2nd day air thing...UPS will do stupid stuff to claim they delivered on time.

IDK, unless you absolutely need the thing in 2 days...just wait. It may get there technically in two days, but sometimes it can be off a little. Just sending is 3-5 or 5-7 or whatever the standard one is can be the best way to go. Hell, if you are close to the warehouse or sender, you can get it sooner some times. I've gotten things in a few days when I thought it'd be a week.

Hope you get your knife or at the least the money back.

That sucks so bad!!last summer my wife ordered me some clothes shipped ups to the house,I live in detroit "the good part" if there is such a thing,it came they droped it on the porch with out a signature, and it was gone and of course no one saw anything.so now things go to my work or I'll pick it up at ups.new clothes were sent no problem.
if that were a Izula taken off the porch I'd still be looken for it!!I sure they will send you another it's just the wait and your new lack of trust that you have to work through.
sorry that happened to you.

RAT PACK #91

Yeah, the worst part is I had a bad feeling all day... I wanted to come home at lunch and make sure i got it but had no time. The package couldn't have been that big, either. i bet it could have fit in the mailbox...
I'm trying pretty hard not to just order a HEST out of pity for myself.
I just spent the past hour re-looking at them, and R Y Pelton's books online.
I bet a paracord wrapped HEST would work pretty good...

FYI

Double check about UPS dropping off at a PO Box. I can't remember who I ordered from but they didn't offer USPS. I told them I needed it to go to my box. They said, no problem, UPS now works with USPS. I got my package.

This just in!!!!!
MY NEXTDOOR NEIGHBOR TOOK IT INSIDE THEIR HOUSE FOR ME!
He just got home and I GOT MY IZULA!
Wish he would've left a note, but I'm too happy now to care.... where's that paracord!
