how many want at izula or H.E.S.T. with tanto tip (version) :)

maybe rat cutlery could make a prototype knife of one of them ,
with a grinding machine... 2 see how many wanted One :D

Both would be too small for what I think Tanto blades are used for...

But hey if you've got access to a grinding machine go for it.

I really have no interest in tanto blades.

Alot of people say "Tantos make great EDC blades", but I think its more a case of the tanto tip just not hampering their cutting instead of enhancing it.

It doesn't get in the way, but it doesn't do anything a regular blade can't do either.

Claims are made about increased tip strength, but the secondary point really does nothing to increase tip strength, that comes from the full thickness of the blade being moved closer to the tip, not the secondary point.

Beyond that, once you get your knife out to the woods, the tanto blade shape does hamper your cutting ability somewhat. Carving, skinning and any other task that relies on the knife's belly are either harder or not possible at all.

Na, you can keep your tantos.

But welcome to the RAT forum.

I just noticed this was your first post reconbear, welcome to the forum.:)

Yea, sorry for the less than warm reception.

Your first post here just happened to touch on a hot button issue and people are most passionate about certain topics in the knife world.

Hopefully, you'll not take offence and hang around, great bunch of guys around here.

First, welcome to the RAT forum & family. Second, no tanto tip on a RAT please. I like the blades how they are, as they were made that way for a reason. (Well, maybe they just flipped a coin, either way they are good as-is)

I guess everyone did come off as sort of cold.

Welcome to the RC forum.....but no tantos for me, thanks. :)

Welcome to the forums! :)

I personally love tanto points, and have several knives with said point. I think they are great edges, and really enjoy cutting with them.

Having said that, I personally don't think they'd work well on a RAT blade. That style isn't the best for what RAT knives are used for.

Welcome to the forums!

I much prefer a traditional japanese tanto, but the both knives are to short for that application. If you really wanted to, you can easily mod one, but your going to be ruining a perfectly good knife. :D

Welcome to the forums!

Absolutely no need for tanto tips on RAT blades as far as I can see--that's just not the kind of knives they are! Even traditional tanto tips (not the Americanized style--traditional example below) are more geared towards use as a weapon rather than as a working tool.

Hi!
Let me reply with another suggestion/proposal: what about a fully-serrated sheepsfoot version of RC3 for rescue purposes?
