I was thrilled to see that I won one of the Izula proto knives from RAT Cutlery and I am very thankful, with my work schedule that week, that Jeff extended the claim window so that I got this wonderful prototype.

It's a great hold-over until my pre-order RC-6 gets here. ;)

I also got one of the kydex sheaths that Dylside made for the protos. I've been wearing it around and really like the set up. It makes a nice 3rd or 4th knife on my person...:D

Anyway, I had been thinking about what I was going to do with my I-proto and wasn't sure. A lot of the 1095 talk had got me thinking about using 44/40 to black it and leave it be - I don't really want to do to many mods to it because of the unique nature of it. Just not my thing on something this unique, aside from maybe wrapping the handle. I thought what tknife did was cool though and I like Mr. Pink's convexed mod.

So, I decided it was going to be cold blued (blacked :D) and that would be it. So I sat off on some prep work with 400 wet/dry. Well, here's what I found when I started:

There is a nice base finish to be had under there!

So, with a little more work the results are:

And the I-proto's future owner, my helper, and best friend:

The pics are from my Blackberry cell so they aren't the "greatest" but they work.

For now, the I-proto will stay as pictured. I'm curious to see what kind of patina will develop.

Also, got my pics of my I-proto with the sheath for Dylside.

Thanks Jeff, Mike, and Shon! RAT Cutlery rocks!

Great picks man! Glad you like the sheath. You're starting that little guy out right.
