A few months ago, I went and reprofiled my izula to 30 degrees inclusive using a DMT aligner.
I don't know why I did such a blasphemy. I guess I was bored.

Anywho, who else has reprofiled their izulas? Any good or bad experiences with a different angle?

i've done the vary same thing to my brothers Izzy, he also had me put a swedge grind on the top at a more stout angle for heavy tasks like braking packaging ribbon at is workplace. It works for him

I worked on mine with sandpaper a while back. I'm not sure of the exact angle I have going on. It's got a wickedly sharp convex edge now.

In the past I've found that if I go as thin as you have my edges don't stand up to tough cutting chores, like heavy plastic packing straps and such. I actually took a chunk out of a Kershaw skyline once that had too thin of an edge for the kind of cutting I need to do.

I put a 30 degree inclusive edge on mine with my Edge Pro. The shiny polished edge looks great (I'll try to post a pic later). I touch up the edge with my Sharpmaker with the rods in the 40 degree slots.

So far the new edge has held up fine. No rolling or denting when carving wood. But I haven't cut wire or hit bone with it yet.

My user Izula's been re-profiled. I'm not sure the exact angle but it's a convex edge and I wouldn't want to go back to the factory bevel that's for sure.

Just convexed mine today at work by hand. I've got a lot of spare time there lately.didnt check the angle but she shaves so I'm happy.,

You don't happen to work on an assembly line with conveyor belts do you? Sorry, just had to ask! :D

nope I'm in a body shop. I see lots of crashed cars but nobody's fixen em which depending on how you look at it has given me lots of time to play with my knives. (boss thinks im crazy too) I just cant wait for the scales to get here.

When I get an Izula, I might reprofile it a little bit. Just to make it a little faster slicer. Not sure yet, I'll have to play with one more.
