Shon called me last night and gave me the latest updates. He is working hard to have Izulas shipped before Christmas but I hate to say there are no guarantees. They are about 75 percent there on getting the "click" finished on the sheath mold. What this entails is setting the mold up, shooting a sheath, trying it on a knife, taking the mold apart, sending it back to Shon to machine a bit here and there, send it back to the injection molder, and do the whole process again. This knife lockup part is perhaps the most tedious of all the operations and just can't be machined exactly right the first time. As Shon said, "you have to sneak up on it."

Anyway, we're hoping to have them by Christmas and I know Shon is pushing hard to get it done. I know this is not the update that most of you wanted to hear but we ain't gonna lie to you. It will be worth the wait.

As a side note, we have decided to offer the Izula with just the knife and sheath as well as the complete system since a lot of folks don't want to have to pay for the extra gear.

We iz waiting patiently. Of course, I'm broke right now, so December sounds good to me. :::ducking thrown beer and soda bottles::: :D

I'd rather hear the truth about the Izula's than having you just saying something to pacify us.

I can wait.

Good idea to offer different options as well.

Atleast when it comes out it will be built right, like a coach of mine once told me, "Its a whole lot easier to do things the wrong way, but it don't mean crap unless you do it the right way." I'm pretty sure he was on the subject of integrity or something near it.

I can't wait to get one, and December sounds fine.
Definately want one with the full kit, redundancy is a good thing.
Anyone aware of a preorder list anywhere?
Thanks, Terry

Great news!

I appreciate the offer of just the knife and sheath, even if it only saves a few bucks --> that's probably the route I'm going to go...

Also, I have a new saying: "You have to sneak up on it" :)

Good news then. I take it that the molder does not have his own machinists to hone the molds. Setup, takedown, packing and shipping a mold back and forth is not cheap by any means. But I am used to much larger molds, larger machines, and larger shots.

I like that you are considering offering the knife and sheath combo without the accessories. I just wish you would offer the knife sans sheath. If the delivery is going to be late December, it precludes me from getting one until sometime next spring, missing my deer season here all together this year. I did want to compare the Izula with the BK11 in butchering large game. It also keeps me from entering those cool contests you keep having since I am holding out for the Izula as my first RC knife.

But I am old enough to know that the world does not revolve around my wants. Sometimes things just don't fall in place the way you wish they would. I appreciate your keeping us updated.
