Looking at them both, i want a small neck knife. wondering which you prefer overall. not sure what i'd be using it for. camp knife/edc. looking for quality of blade, strength and edge holding. i really like the little bottle opener on the becker.... however the izula's shape appeals to me slightly more. so idk...

thoughts guys?

thanks,
SS

I would wait a little bet until the BK 14 EsKaBar comes out and get the best of both of them.

Having owned both I'd have to say the Izula. The finish is better and you'd be hard pressed to beat the Rowen 1095 heat treat. I love my Izula and gave the Becker to my brother. Lately my Izula has taken a back seat to a swamp rat swamp warden which is awesome in every respect.

I can only say I did a lot of lurking and reading for some time and chose the Izula. Ordered it a couple days ago. I'm a Glock guy, and as someone said to me in one of my posts, this is like the Glock of knives.

I own and love the BK-11 and have held and messed a bit with the Izula. Those are both great knives but I liked the way the Becker fit my hand better (and I have large hands). The fact that Becker's price is a fair bit lower was just icing on the cake to me.

I have and use both. The Izula is smaller with a smaller sheath, so is more neck-carry friendly, and it must have a good heat treat because it really seems to hold an edge better.

The BK-11 is larger, which can be a good thing, especially if you get the optinal TDI belt clip which allows you to clip and carry the knife anyway you want. The bottle opener is handy if you like your beer like I do, but it makes the handle feel just a bit smaller than is ideal.

Both great knives so it's really a toss-up between them. Personally I like my Bark River Bravo Necker better than both, and that Swamp Warden looks like a winner too. ...haha sorry that dosen't help narrow things down much does it? :o

Ive got a hold of a BK14 Eskabar prototype...it handles like a dream. Has the great bladeshape/size of the BK11 and the ergonomic handle of the Izula. Best of both worlds.

I like my BK11 out of the 2....bit more blade to work with.
I like the ESEE sheath better though, locks the knife in really tight.

Interesting, BK-14 looks nice.....But the necker was put away the instance my Izula was delivered, not a big fan of the necker handle.

I had to get both just to decide...you should too.

I like Kabar's proprietary steel a bit more, just the icing on the cake when it comes to slicing. Plus it's cheaper... I own a HEST and a BK11 so I avoided the urge to pick up the Izula.

I've got both and there are things I like about each design.

The Izula is smaller and easier to carry in my pocket (I don't like things hanging on my neck) and the general finish was a bit better than my BK-11. The handle is almost too small for me, though. I ordered some micarta handle slabs and hope to improve it a bit. It was sharp out of the box, just needed some stropping.

The BK-11 needed quite a bit of work to get the sort of performance I expect from a small blade. The factory edge was a bit thick. I ended up stripping the blade (the coating came off easily) and convexing it.

Both sheaths could use some improvement. The plastic used for the Izula sheath isn't very nice. And both of them are far bigger than needed (I like my sheaths as small as possible). However retention is fine, so I'm not about to spend money on custom sheaths (the knives were only around $35 each, and that's certainly part of their appeal).

I have an Izula and it does so well what I wanted in a knife like this I've simply not looked elsewhere. The Becker may be a fine knife, but I'll likely never know.

I'd say izula. I've handled both, and the Becker necker handle doesn't really do it for me.
