Izula vs. Buck

I just got back from my late season deer hunting trip in Colville National Forest and thought I would share some pictures of the work the Izula did. I used the Izula to gut and then completely skin the animal. I had worked my butt of putting a razor sharp convex edge on the blade and it held up great. The paracord on the other hand, not so much.

In all, great knife that did a great job. The belly was perfect for skinning. I think I might find someone to make me some nice buckeye burl scales for the blade.

Anyone selling off their collection cheap after seeing these pictures????? I'd like a few more!

Good job.

Yeah, the paracord is certainly pretty gnarly looking now. This is why I opt for the scales or just use it naked.

LMAO!!! I guess if he had hacked it to death with the Izula somehow then someone might get upset. :D Nice reference to the boar thread, now I know I've been here a little while.

Heh, I was going to ask what happened to the paracord, but then I noticed it was gray in the first picture. :P

Also, how did you tie the ends up on that wrap? I've got something similar going on, but the ends come out of the handle a lot. I've been thinking about gluing them down with some easy glue to get off if I ever need the para cord for a survival situation or something.

Sorry, just got my Izula, so I wanted to ask. How'd the deer taste? I've been wanting to check out Colville after hearing about it a few times. Isn't it up by Spokane?

That buck has a LOT of fat on it. I grew up in KS and deer there were always extremely lean but rifle deer season was always just after the rut there.

Cleaning fish with the Izula is what lead me to finally get the scales for it and I have been extremely happy with them. The paracord is nice if you don't gut or clean animals but it is pretty worthless once you do as it is nearly impossible to clean it.

I've been on the fence with the Izula for a bit - not knowing whether or not I wanted the ESEE-Becker collaborative BK-14 EsKaBar or the Izula (or the Izula II), due to the different sizes in handles / blades, but this has pretty much convinced me that the tiny 2 1/2" drop point will get the job done (I was actually hoping to pick up one and test it out on a deer, but I strayed off and picked up a Bill Coye Ridge-Back and a Busse Skeleton Warden on the way and now all my duckets are going to the DPx HEST Folder).

That's pretty impressive for that little knife. I think I may have to pick one up now.

Go into the sticky thread area and enter into the ESEE AR15 lower contest only if your interested but just a thought ???
Nice Buck !

I had no clue about this contest. I appreciate you two sending me in that direction. I only took a couple of pictures because I wanted to share with the ESEE family what a great knife the Izula is. I guess from now on I should actually read all the contests.

Not to get off topic, but how about some details on the rifle you posted over on the contest thread? Looks like a Remington 700 in a McM stock with a NF scope maybe?

It's built on a Rem 700 LA trued and squared in 30-06 caliber
Fluted bolt w/ oversized bolt knob
Oversized recoil lug
Rock Creek Barrel = #4 contour, 1-11.25 twist, finished at 24"
HP Precision stock pillar bedded which I textured and painted myself
Old style Rem 700 trigger (3lbs) & BDL bottom metal
Nightforce scope

The Paint and texture on that stock looks pretty darn good man. I've got an HS on one of my 700s and I'd love to do that same thing to it.

Great post. I too thought it was about Buck Knives and was pleased to see it was not. I had a snarky comment to throw out there, but, now that is not necessary.

Great pics mhill. After using the 3MIL on my buck I'd highly recommend the Izula scales. That canvas micarta cleans up like a charm. Looks brands new.

nice hardware, great glass, nice paint on the stock.

i have a NF 2.5-10 with an illuminated mildot reticle on my LTR, but it's not the NSX, so the knobs are under caps, and i've for two of their old 4x compact scopes that i've never mounted on anything.
