i was wanting to get my first esee knife and am wandering which one to get. this would be a EDC/backup knife.

off topic what is the idea length for a EDC fixed blade.

What is your main knife?

Id choose an Izula. Nice little back up knife or EDC. Have you thought about the ESEE 3 instead of the 4?

Ideal length imo is 2.5-4ish.

They are relatively different knives. For EDC, generally, the Izula would be what most people would want. The 4 is pretty hefty by comparison.

my main knife is a bk2 and i did look at the esee3 but i like a knife with heft to it. what other knives would you recommend that are a little thicker than most and my price limit is $110

If you have a BK-2, I'm surprised that you didn't look at the BK-16. Sweet little thing.

I too have the BK16 and find it a great fixed blade knife. I am not a fan of the sheath however. I find it too long for no good reason.

i have looked at the bk16 and just heard a lot a good things about esee knives and with that warranty who can beat that.

I sliced mine up, put in a few rivets, and turned it into a neck carry. It still retains the belt option.
