Hello fellas.
This is another Izula, with a modified handle (by me).
This time I made my own micarta! Or at least so I think. I've made it of random fibrous pieces of cloth which I quickly gathered and soaked it in Epoxy. Turned out better than expected. It's tough, grippy, and cool looking. :D
I then worked it with a dremel to achieve the shape I wanted. I also extended the jimping a little and jimped the choil portion.
Anyway, have a look.

Here is my older, yet favorable Olive-wood handle Izula.

Great looking piece. How was it working the Micarta? (can you compare it to working G10?)

God bless,
Adam

Thanks for the props and all the replies guys.
I am definitely sorry for the bad pix, but currently don't have a high quality camera available. I also kinda wanted to take those pix in the "natural" environment of the Izula. :D
Will take better photos in the future and will update the thread.

As for the fabrics. I just cut pieces of some old cargo pants, basically. One were black, while the others were in tan color.
The micarta was a b!tc# to work with!!! It is such a solid material. The rotary tool was blasting bits were changed, and nothing could take good care of the micarta. I actually had to spend a very long time, almost cutting or rather slicing at the micarta with singular strokes, using the rotary tool. I think that I can say that mainly I used the thinner discs that come with my rotary tool set.

It took long, and I did waste lots of epoxy (while experimenting), but it turned out well. I kinda just went with what I thought I should do. No previous experience with synthetic materials for a handle prior to this one. I wonder how it fairs to working G-10....

I like the two tone look of the micarta, looks like a knife that will be used and loved.

Man hands down on of the most awesome Izzys out there. Did you jimp the bottom part too. looks great and is probably great in-hand too.:thumbup:

Very cool, does it still fit in the sheath?

I did have to modify the sheath a little. Since I made sure that the handle is a bit longer than the original scales, and it finishes closer to the blade.
It was a quick and easy fix though. You could actually use the Izula to make that small cutout so the knife fits.
