Yesterday the wife and kids wanted to carve pumpkins.
Setting up a backyard table for them, I grabbed a few knives - razor blade types, kitchen types, and the Izzy.

The Izzy's flat spine, full belly, and manageable size were a big hit. It was by far the favorite knife used by all.
We had 3 pumpkins - "NY" (yankees) ghost and cat - all glowing on the front porch last nite.

Not as fun as saying I dressed a deer or cleaned a fish with it...but it was yet another nice use of a perfect blade. :D

Hey Solo,

Sounds like fun!

You know you are going to have to post photos of the finished products!;)

Those look amazing! I may have to give it a try this year after we procure a couple of pumpkins.

I wonder if my old Becker Necker will work or if I need to expedite an Izula for the job.....:D

Pretty cool. I plan on attempting an Esee skull logo pumpkin this year with my Izzy. Thanks for posting

1977. I was 10 years old sitting cross-legged on the living room floor watching Game 6 of the world series on our big ole' floor console TV - remember those? :)

Reggie Jackson hit not one....not two....but three HR's to win the game for the Yanks. I think I've been "afflicted" with the NY bug ever since. My son plays middle infield and has been a Jeter nut for years...he really didn't have a chance... haha!

Glad you liked the carvings everyone - we just googled "free pumpkin stencils" and went from there.

I just ordered an Izzy. The nice lady at Knifeworks says it should be here in time to perform carving duties. I think I will have to make a stop at the pumpkin patch!
