Ok all, got the Izula last week...hooked, addicted, whatever. Since then, the HEST has been on my mind. Anyone carry both? Im trying to convince myself to make the purchase, (better half wont approve) but I dont think I would want to leave either/or behind. For those that have both. After you got the HEST did you put the Izula elswhere, or vice versa? Guess if I go ahead and get it, I had better carry both, as the gal my cut me with one if I dont. :D Thoughts? Opinons?

I don't own an Izula, but I've used one... the HEST is a little longer but the handle is much nicer. Both are very easy to EDC, and have similar blade shapes. I feel absolutely no need to own an Izula with the HEST in my pocket. You could always pack the Izula away in a survival kit somewhere, or even a backup bug out bag for friends/family.

Well for me I have both but I do not carry both at the same time. But they both get a lot of carry time. I love the HEST, it is a great bag knife for those things where you need an amazing all around tool. The Izula is great for everyday disappear in the pocket type of thing. Personally I think that they both complement each other nicely.

I'd have to ask why. However this is Bladeforums. I have a Izula and an RC-3 but I rarely carry them together. You could get the HESt and carry it on alternate days. You could also wait for the HEST folder to hit the streets in December. You have options man:D That's the nice part of being an adult.

Thanks for the feedback. I think Im pretty well bound and determined to go forward with the HEST. More cargo pants are in order. May carry both, since the addiction has implemented itself. Im sure after a week or two one will go to the bag or car. Who knows? Wish there was a local dealer to do the handshake with the HEST, to feel it out. Nothing in this area, even bought the Izula based on photos, and net info, and was very satisfied. Im sure the HEST will induce the same satisfaction.

Do it-no cargo pants necessary. I wear slacks two days out of the week and the HEST is unnoticeable in the front pocket.

I carried the Izula for a year on my belt - horizontal - with a mini tek-loc.

A few weeks ago I really wanted to start carrying / use my HEST....so I put that in that spot...but didn't want to be without my trusty companion Izula...so I put it on some paracord around my neck.

It really IS overkill having both on...and I've started taking the Izula off, especially on heavy sweat stuff like mowing, etc...

The hard thing to admit (for me) is that the HEST replaces both the 3 and the Izula pretty well...and adds more functionality to boot.

but I can't get rid of my trusty Izula - I'll find ways to use it / carry it / keep it around. :)

Its a new addiction, just need to get it out of my system I guess... And yes the HEST folder is on my Christmas list. I did delve on alternate carry as well.

Im carrying the Izula horizontal belt now. Yeah, Im sure it could be considered overkill, but we do what we do. And I will probably do as you have. :D

i have both, put full length scales on izula. i still prefer hest. i only had izula with me the day i needed the wire breaker. will not happen again! i wont carry both since i carry a rat1 folder anyway. i prefer hest to izula now though as i have seen what it is like to own the tool but not have it in hand when needed.

I have both and almost never carry the Izula. Nothing against it at all, but I prefer the fit and feel of the HEST.

When i bought my HEST Im afraid i sold my Izula . I do regret that decision , and plan to get a replacement very soon.

I got the Izula first, I held off on the HEST for a VERY long time.

Recently I did get a HEST, and I carried it for a couple days.

Long story short, I am back to carrying the Izula.

For me, the Izula is the perfect EDC.

I've been known to carry my Izula around my neck with my H•E•S•T on my belt.
I've gone through a lot of knives in my life. Fixed blade an otherwise. I'm bad to accumulate. Buy a knife because it fills a perceived need, then when I get bored, it gets put in the collection. An accumulator.

I have only a few knives that stick. And I mean, when I don't know what i'm going to be facing (that sounds bad... too tactical, but whatever). They're either inexpensive but good, or just plain good. And usually the honeymoon is over within about 21 days. Well, I've had my H•E•S•T for for about 60, and my Izula for maybe 30. I still find myself slipping the Izula around my neck, or keeping it somewhere handy. But the H•E•S•T pretty much stays with me. I bought the H•E•S•T first, the Izula later. H•E•S•T goes one first, and pretty much stays. Izula goes on when I want a little something extra to preserve the edge on the H•E•S•T, perhaps.

What I'm trying to say is... get the H•E•S•T. Don't worry about the Izula. It may spend less time on you, but it will most likely still spend time on you.
