J.D. Smith is a man steeped in fusion. From music to politics to art, his mind is open to the possibilities that come with welcoming diverse inputs, and his art displays his ability to bring cohesion to apparently disparate elements in gloriously intriguing fashion.
This is what he had to say about this piece;
A Brute from a bit earlier last month.... some new shots w/ close-ups of the steel.
I have blended and forged several species of patterning into this blade's steel. The result is something extremely organic and flowing, with a multitude of varying shades of greys and blacks.
Each "stream of patterning" has a subtlely different and unique character owing to the differences in the steel's carbon and alloy profiles.

There will be updates to this thread, as J.D. further explores the possibilities found in the brut de forge approach to custom cutlery.
