I just bought a very nice Spyderco folder from a friend of mine a few days ago. I dont remember seeing much written about this J.D. Smith model, so I would appreciate any info people here could give me. The knife is way cool, with a super pointy blade of VG10, with rock solid lockup and polished black micarta handles. Action is a little stiff, but it locks up super tight, which is more important to me anyway. I want to know if this model has been discontinued? I would like to obtain another of these for a spare.

One of my favorite models. Regreatably I let mine go.

For some reason they never got much support here, IMO it was a very well built piece with great ergos...

I like this model too. The shape is very nice, ergonomical and the VG-10 blade rocks. I'm not very much into Micarta, though :( Too bad it was discontinued since 2002.

Thanks Danbo, I felt it was time to pay a mini-tribute to ole sweaty...

I had one that was fully serrated. Traded it because I did not like the fully serrated blade. I would love to have one in plain edge. Great blade shape and great handle. A dressy tactical, IMO.

A very nice knife, the only thing that I did not like about it was the action. I just felt that it needed to be smoother. I loved everything else about the knife.

The JD Smith Plain Edge is my Primary EDC, there is just something about it I love. I regret that I traded my SE verson of it about a month ago :(

TBG, glad to see you're enjoying it, sweet knife with a rock solid lock-up!
