this nice pair of damascus knives by j.d. smith arrived last week. i tried to take some decent pictures but the subtle damascus patterns are very hard to capture.

slender knife: full tang; blade 4", oal 8", explosion pattern damascus of 15n20/1084; dovetailed damascus bolsters, african blackwood scales

other knife: full tang; blade 4", oal 8 1/4", very subtle fireball pattern damascus of 15n20/1084; damascus bolsters, brazilian kingwood scales

j.d. smith is a great and honest person!

all comments are welcome.

regards,
hans

Hans,
Those are good looking knives. JD makes great damascus and has his own style. It's easy to pick his knives out from a crowd. I agree that he is a great person to deal with.

What a terrific pair! They are both great, but the curvy one with the kingwood scales really floats my boat. A striking and dramatic piece. I really admire J.D. Smith's work and hope we will see more of it on this forum.

Congrats!

Beautiful knives! I've met Mr. Smith a couple of times, and he told me craftsmanship is of paramount importance to him. It shows!

thanks, kevin! yes, both knives came with sheaths. i always want sheaths... they are very well made, not too fancy, but practical. the one for the bigger knife is a high ride sheath; it allows me to carry the knife well concealed under a shirt or sweater. very cool!

regards,
hans
