Went to the Ruidoso Gun Show at the Ruidoso Civic Center and came across a nice elderly man that makes custom knives in Tuscon AZ. He has everything from Damascus steel to 01 tool steel knives with sheaths. A variety of handles as well. Picked up a nice drop point with polymer ivory handles and 01 blued steel with custom burgandy color sheath for $125. The sheath was made for that particular knife. You have to see to appreciate. The guy doesn't have a computer let alone know how to type on a keyboard. Very nice knives for the prices. He is probably one of many excellent knife makers out there that work on their own and you only see them at shows and so forth. For example, all he has on his card is his name and phone number. Drove all the way from Tuscon to Ruidoso to sell his knives on a little table. While I was at the table there was some old "mountain man" talking about how much he liked the knife he bought from him last year. I just sort of stood back listening and looking until "Jeremiah Johnson" left.
