J Norman Knives

I have no personal experience with these, just read about them on another forum, so I hope I am not out of line by saying if I bought one of these, I would expect to receive the somewhat cheap "kit" knife, put together by some kid in the far east, that it looks to be. I think they probably spent more on the photos, and the hand model, than the knives.
But I could be wrong (doubtful), and if you think you can collect on a return if you send it back, you would only be risking the S&H so it might be worth a try.

i was thinking the same thing. they all look the same and whatnot. I wasnt planning on buying it but didnt want to miss out on something decent if it really was.

I know what you mean.
I don't know exactly what you found attractive in that knife, but if you shop around you should be able to find one of the Case Stockman w/ Raindrop Damascus blades, and Stag handles for less than $150. Then you would know what you have, and if you decide to unload it down the road you know it will have good resale/trade value.
Another big plus, IMHO, would be helping out some men and women right here in the USA at a time they could really use it:thumbup:.

well i was mostly just wondering if the make was american. if he wasnt i wasnt going to even consider it. I try not to buy non american, no offense to them, but I like to support my country first and foremost.

It's shipping out of London, and even if it was made there it was probably made from Asian kit parts. The opening bid is just too low for a "custom" knife. There are plenty of American production knives in or below the same price range that are a lot better looking and are actually functional.

London shipping often means Pakistani manufacturing.

The damascus blades also supports this; you can hide a lot of sins with that.

I have been watching this guys stuff for a couple of months now...everything looks good and the red inlays on this did not come from a kit. His prices have been going up steadily and more people are bidding on them.I would say he is buying kits but I don't think they are the super cheapies and his detail work looks pretty nice. I do plan on getting one of his knives if I see one I like...for the price I think it would be hard to go wrong .

sure does look thick. I agree with pakistan. waste of money IMO

From what I've read, there is no such maker. Previous auctions claimed they were made in Sweden, but no one could locate a custom maker of that name. Most likely they are being made in Pakistan

That said, they are very nice looking. I almost pulled the trigger on one a few weeks ago out of curiosity, but missed the closing.

One just went Today for $500 (with poor F&F) and I see that they've been selling in the 300-400 range as of late. Anyone got any more definitive info on where these are being made? The same seller is now listing them with "William's" instead of "J.Normen".
