I have been making the collector in me very happy the last few months. I have been watching Jared Oeser put out some amazing fixed blades over the last year. But his jaw dropping folders are what really caught my eye. I prefer to carry folders on a daily basis, this will be my "Dress Utility".

I have always been a fan of Sow Belly style knives, Jared makes one that he calls the Dogleg. I wanted a wharnie (sheep's foot) blade for box opening and daily tasks. Jared lives near me so when he contacted me and told me a dogleg was available we arranged to meet up in person. The knife did not disappoint, in fact it went well beyond what I expected. His Fit and finish is PERFECT, I could not find one thing wrong with the knife (and I looked hard).

I took some photos of it when I got it home... I played in photoshop with some of the photos, so forgive the editing if you are not into that kind of thing!

In the closed position there is no wobble and the blade is dead center. The blade open's with just the right amount of friction. At half way there is a solid stop. Fully open the lock up is crisp with no gaps to speak of. The CPM154 blade is razor sharp and ready for work.

If you get a chance to grab one of his knives (Fixed or Folder) Jump on it. Now that I have taken these photos I can get out and put it to some daily use. Thanks Jared!

Thats really handsome Ryan, and looks like a great utility. Good choice on the sheepsfoot, and the dogleg pattern is really comfy.
J is a great maker with a fresh approach.

I wrote it before, Jared's dogleg frame looks just awesome to my eye...and the sheepsfoot version fits pretty nice too :)

I love Jared's knives. So clean. I have had the opportunity to hold a handful of his folders, and a fair number of his fixed blades on a few visits.

My first custom folder will be from him!

The dog legg jack from him is such a great feeling frame in the hand!

A great looking knife, Jared gives new meaning to traditional pocket knives without detracting anything from the tradition. Congratulation Ryan you got yourself unique knife, and congratulation to Jared for another perfect knife.

Congratulations Ryan.

That's one beautiful knife. I hope you enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying the gunstock he made.

Jeez this is an expensive place to hang out. That thing is gorgeous...kinda reminds me of a black n white cookie.

Ryan, thank you so much for the great review. Whenever I make a knife that could end up in the hands of another knife maker it scares the crap out of me. It's such a relief to hear you're happy.

Thank you everyone else for the kind words.

Another beauty from Jared - and great pictures to show it off!

Thanks!

best

Terrific, I love the Dogleg and the wharncliffe is a cool change from the standard spear (or clip).
Congrats on great knife, and to Jared for making such great knives.

Someday...

That's a beautiful knife. Guess I've got to go see his other stuff...

+1 on expensive web-site. Between TA D., J L, and all the other fine makers I better look for a few gold nuggets to fund my quests with. My greatest fear right now is the guy I've been waiting two years or so for my name to come to the top of his list is going to shoot me an email and I won't have any undesignated funds to spend.

Mr O's work looks superbly executed.

I can see the appeal.

I'm sure you will enjoy pocketing that beauty for a good while Ryan.

Thanks for making us all jealous!

That is one superbly finished knife!
I love the look of that! - excellent work Jared -and thank you Ryan!

I own one of J's Norfolks, absolutely wonderful knife and I am proud to call him friend. I've referred to J's knives as
"Traditional's with a Twist", this piece falls squarely into that category, Great!

Jeff

This one looks great! I really like the understated black&white tuxedo look, way more than some of the brighter colors or more flashy patterns. This might be my favorite Oeser yet!
