and wanted to share this piece I just got. This JWSmith knife is sole authorship. His work (IMHO) is amazing!

Beautiful knife.
JW is not only one of my favorite makers, he's one of my favorite people.
There's just none better.
 
Lovely. I have 4 of his folders, but they are from the tactical range. They are the best value around.
 
That is a real beauty. Is it current made? Damascus done by JWS? No one makes a smoother functioning linerlock knife. Great acquisition for sure.
 
"Sole authorship" would indicate he made the damascus too, right? I was unaware he made damascus. The knife is stunning.
 
All his. That damascus pattern and color is very common on his knives, and very identifiable. I love it.
 
Great knife Mark. John does killer work. I'd love to get him to come to my show here in the future. I don't know him real well but from my interaction with him in NY he seems like a great guy.

John started making his own damascus, I believe 7 or 8 years ago.

I've known John for a long time, he is a super person and one of the best folder makers out there. That is a fine example of his work :thumbup:
 
I saw one of his pieces in the National Knife Collectors Magazine and was inspired to call him and have one made for me. Don't remember the year but probably about 15 years ago. When it was ready I was living in Atlanta but often visited family in Cincinnati, John was just across the river in Kentucky so John made sure the knife was ready for my next trip to the area. We met at a bar had a few beers, exchanged knife and money and have continued to exchange more knives and money over many more beers throughout the years. John is a first rate knife-maker as well as a wonderful person. People like him are why I enjoy the knife world so much.

I have a JWS tac folder which is amazing. I agree 100% that these tac folders are one of the best values in the custom knife world.
