I have been wanting to show off this beauty of a custom I asked Jeff Baker to make for me for many months now. Included here with a few shots of a newly acquired Bill Seigle Chopper. Both Makers here on BF and two exceptional blades IMHO.

Here are the glamour shots :)

1st - A little advert for a great knife maker -

DRUM ROLL.... Introducing a slightly modified JA Baker Viper

SPECS: CPM -S30V acid etched stone washed blade 4-1/2" long - about 9-1/2" overall, with textured G10 scales.

Here shown with the Bill Seigle Chopper - 10" 5160 blade with G-10 handle.

Hand stitched leather sheath by Jeff with holder for the fire steel too! [/I].

My first impression when reporting back to Jeff -

"I am over the top happy with my new knife. What a beauty and a perfect fit too. Big enough to mean business and small enough to never be left behind. All the details are exactly right and of course, sharpness is super keen."

This impression undiminished months later. This knife is an excellent user.

Here are a few details that make this VIPER different from the others (customized for me).

Ice breaking jimping on the pommel

Beautiful texturing on the G-10 -

Coyote tan and mustard liners under the scales and 3/16" thick steel -

Sharpened swage - a very useful detail -

AND FINALLY - another shot of this great pair of blades-

Thanks very much Jeff for an excellent accommodation of my requests. The VIPER is a perfect tool and a fun knife.
Mr. Seigle - you dun good too :) Though this one came to me through the exchange.

I highly recommend - in case you had any doubt

Great looking pair. Gotta love the handle on the Siegle!

Yes there's a lot to hold onto and with that heavy chopper holding on is essential :D

Still, I am most impressed with the texturing on the G-10 that Jeff did. It's provides a good secure grip, wet or dry, and looks good too.
