Initially I thought this was going to be kind of a "looker" but I was completely wrong. First and formost it is made of Ka-Bar's Cro-Van steel so it is about a bulletproof and predictable as you can get. No matter if you like that steel or not, you can't argue that it has earned its keep.
Next is the handle. I have heard some issues about wear on the grippy knubs but I don't have enough time with it to see this. And while I hear about this online, I have yet to see the actual person that wore it out. I like the hande for several reasons. One is that imediately when you pick it up it feels rock solid. Grippy but comfortable. The handle shape holds your hand in nicely when chopping or doing fine work. The handle actually has three available positions to give you a feel for fine work, a medium position for general cutting tasks and a rear position for chopping, something this knife does very well. With each position you have finger grooves and the shape of the butt to keep a positive hold.
The overall balance is good, feeling like a balanced kukri or large bowie. It is one of those knives you will be holding while you watch TV and pull it out a hundred times a day. It just wants to be in your hand.
Lastly, the knife comes with a nice sheath that has a backup knife for smaller cutting tasks. The sheath is big, like the BK7 sheath but it is very comfortable and has lots of ways to carry it. This knife definitely works better than you think it would and can compete with knives in heaviier weight classes.
