As we all know Jack is a very generous man, and this week it was mine and Jan`s turn to be cheered by a surprise parcel!

Jan got this beautiful little Quill knife. Mother of pearl scales, perfectly positioned nail nick, great walk and talk, and the tiniest swedge i have ever seen!
It will be used in sheath making and sewing, great for nipping threads etc.

Also included was a beautiful postcard depicting the John Brown Atlas steel works 1875.

My surprise from jack was an Ivory cigarette holder which i put to good use straight away, and added a touch of class to the workshop!!

Thanks jack for our lovely gifts, and the happiness you give to everyone:thumbup:

Very nice gifts! Thank you for sharing them. That cigarette holder is long enough that you can heat treat the blades while you grind them! ;) :D

lol^^^ nice one Jake, Well done guys, that's great to see, Jack is simply an amazing guy!

Great to see the nice gifts from Mr. Jack being put to good use !

I always pictured those cigarette holders as being for prissy women all dressed up, guess I was wrong. It looks like it was made to keep smoke out of your eyes during those crucial grinding operations.

Well done Jack. You have quite a knack for personalizing the gift packages you send folks. :D

Paul, congrats to you and Jan on those elegant gifts from the inimitable Mr. Black!:thumbup: Thanks for sharing your good fortune with us!
Huzzah, Jack, on your generous and thoughtful gifts; I always admire your knack for matching the gift and the recipient!:cool:
(As opposed to my "gifting philosophy" that abuses the adage that "it's the thought that counts".)

Absolutely! Jack's gifts are thorough in their thoughtfulness, and the consistency with which he seeks out and matches knives and their ephemera to the tastes and predilections of members here is the stuff worthy of legend.

Please be aware, however, that once Jack has your shipping address you are also at risk for whatever the UK equivalent might be of "zucchini in the car come harvest time"-- future randomly arriving packages filled with multiple toe nail clippers, odd hooks that only your great-grandmother might recognize, 3 or 7 mismatched buttons, an "archival tin" of H&C Breakfast Bacon (intact), and advertisement cards for various substances to be applied internally or externally, depending on the need at hand.

HA!!!! Sometimes there are advantages to having "under a rock" as your address :D

Yikes! It's kind of scary that at least three of us were typing up the same thought virtually simultaneously!! :p

LOL! THanks folks :D

I have to confess, I nearly came unstuck earlier in the week. I was shipping something off to someone, but didn't know what to include with the knife. I did some research, and on the basis of that, I put together a pipe knife and reamer, a cap-lifter, some other booze-related stuff, a birth-year coin, and a gift for a small child. When I looked up the address, it turned out I had confused two different posters, and almost all the gifts would have been inappropriate! :o :D

Popular with Russian gangsters apparently! :D

- well deserved, Paul...........and very selfless as ever, Jack
