I finally opened my 1.75-liter bottle of Jack Daniels a werk or so ago, and am about one-third of the way through it:

Great stuff, but to be honest, I prefer the smoothness of Wild Turkey (101 proof).

There are at least 100 things I'd rather drink than Jack. The knife, on the other hand, has always been one of my favorites. You did good.

I had one of those with a black micarta border patrol handle, nickel silver Model #1 style hilt, nickel silver butt cap, and a black leather sheath. It looked like a #14 on steroids. Wish I hadn't sold that knife.

Hmmm,

Ken, I can see now that we're gonna have to get you into some single barrel or small batch Bourbon soon...Jack'll make ya spell funny, amongst other thangs... lol

Bruce, agreed, like a #14 on steroids! Speaking of knives I wish I still had...(or; what the heck was I thinking?)

Ken, try a bottle of the single barrel sometime. Different animal.
I did, and finished it a couple months ago. Photographic evidence:

How do you like your Model 5? I see that one has seen some use, and that's the model I've been thinking of ordering.

I'm talking about this one:

That's my sister's #5-5" that my dad gave to her. I have my own #5-5" now, thanks to MP. I took this before snagging it, which shows my #5-4", one of my sons' #5-6", and my #5-8":

I also have a #5-7" now, to complete the flush.

Anyway, one of my favorite Randalls is the #5, and my favorite blade length for it is 6 inches.

Re. Photographic evidence - 'Swoosh', nothing but net... ;)

Lawdy, mighty fine lookin' RMK #5-8 che got dere Kenny...

Actually, I had my name engraved on that knife so it's out there somewhere. Perhaps it'll turn up and I can reclaim it! In fact, I sold about ten Randall knives with my name on them. Somebody's just waiting till I get famous (or infamous!).

Some good news. I finished the Jack Daniels a couple nights ago, and am now working on some Knob Creek.

I love the 1911:thumbup: I'm about to send my old Kimber into cylinder and slide for a make over when I get back to the states in a few weeks. I shall also enjoy a similar bottle of Knob Creek!

Here are a couple better views of the 1911, which is an Ed Brown "Special Forces Carry" with Light Rail:

Samael, that's the problem with drinking cheap booze, it makes ya post stuff in the wrong forum...lol (j/k)

KL, I was gonna make a post here of my new crutch-tip with a bottle of Baker's 107...but truthfully, IMNSHO, the Baker's tasted like crap, and was waaay over (rated, priced, etc.)

Knob Creek is a tetch better, but still pretty 'raw'. I'm tellin' ya, Old Grand-Dad 114 is a damn sight tastier and a whole lot mellower.

As always, YMMV ;)

ken, awesome knives, excellent sidearm and wonderful drink, the knob is where the men and boys are seperated, will have some at my retirement party this weekend.

you have an awesome taste in blades and firearms, i wonder how anyone functions without them.

got to meet rhett this weekend in hillsville, va. he has a nice collection of randalls.

Try some Woodford Reserve. Very nice small batch Bourbon Distiller , They bottle in a Year what Jack Daniels bottles in a day. Wild Turkey 101 is My drink of choice on Thanksgiving. And I promise to raise a glass when My current on order Randalls arrive.

Cant post pics but as promised I have My Wild Turkey 101 and My Randall 2-8 has arrived. 2nd 2-8 Ive owned had to sell 1st one , this one has much longer choil(sp?) than previous one, this one has brass but cap and wrist thong black micarta handle. Now waiting till summer 2010 for 1-8 and summer 2014 for 12-9 14 grind

Nice. I have a 1.75 liter bottle of Wild Turkey 101 waiting to be opened on Thursday. Prior to that, I polished off a bottle of Bulleit and Van Winkle 12 Year, both of which were quite good, particularly the latter.

But, Thanksgiving Day is also Turkey Day, so Wild Turkey 101 seems to be the most appropriate to enjoy on this festive holiday.
