We almost Died  :o...!!
Other than that, it was a pretty good day - Looking forward to the next Great Northwest Rat (& Hogs & Dogs) Mischief

I think that the boss jack feels better in use. River-8 likes his SJTac though. It's almost as if we planned it that way. :)

The SJ Tac isn't CF. It was one of the 0.22 Snake/DCBB ganzaa variations from around that time, 1 of 10 I believe. The Tan Mags were added later by the custom shop making it the perfect SJ Tac.

Have either of you tried chopping with the boss jack? I know it's not designed for it, but I'm looking for a knife that can be a jack of all trades in a pinch.

I didn't expect too much with the boss jack, but was very surprised at how well it did perform while chopping. It has a slightly blade heavy balance to begin with. Add the ability to choke back comfortably all the way back... mmmmm.

Right now the boss jack is my only fixed blade field knife - it does all the chopping, batoning, etc. While I would never claim that it performs overall as well as a FSH, I have never felt under-knifed in any way.

I should point out that my knife isn't my primary method of sectioning out logs (vs chopping). I have a saw for that.

Hey Troy and John. Haven't seen you guys around in awhile. Nice Jacks, thanks for posting and sharing your experience with them.

See you guys in April?

I LOVE those Jacks! I miss the old stomping grounds. Hope to catch up to you guys soon.

Nice, I actually moved a bit closer to you guys.

I am now in Central Washington. Still, probably too far to convince my wife I should leave her with the kids and drive on over!

The 2011 Great NW Mischief is looking like August 20-21; just sayin'...

Oh and 360 is a tad mistaken; the SJ Tac is the FAR superior blade.
Really not his fault, and we should try to be kind in his misguidedness :p .

Is that BJ modded? It looks like a regrind and I don't see the blood groove (forgot the real name for that). That is my only gripe with my BJ, the very thick edge.

The BJ is only modded in that it was one of the satin G10 variety that was returned to the shop for canvas micarta. The satin boss jacks (and all the new ones) don't have the fuller -- I'm not sure how I feel about that. BUT, the edges are much nicer than the original protos.

Oh, and pay no mind to River-8. He's been huffing kydex fumes again.

While its probably obvious to all-and-sundry that 360 has 'issues,' we should focus on two legititament (and important) take-aways from this thread:
  1. Busse makes GREAT Knives! (360's said issues notwithstanding)
  2. Said Busse Knives and Kin will be meeting in August to celebrate said knives!
Planes, trains and autombiles (perhaps even dirigables?) should all be considered whilst planning ones travel plans to Mischief Henge...

Just saying :D

Please try to set aside any frustrations, and just be kind to 360...
Really not his fault.
