I still have the 4" (closed) Texas Jack that I carried as a kid. It's still a great knife but I'm thinking about retiring it or at least carrying it very little.

Who makes a good quility Jack Knife along the same lines as the 4" TJ with a large blade and a pen blade?

I handled a Case small Texas jack in the store the other day, and was impressed. Good fit and finish, and razor sharp. I would, however, recommend laying hands on any Case knife prior to buying because I personally feel that Case quality control is spotty at best (especially on the knives intended as collectors rather than users). In fact, a few years ago I bought a Seahorse whittler on the internet and when it arrived, I found it to be a nailbreaker and duller than a butterknife--it hadn't been sharpened at the factory at all.

YMMV. Hope this helps.

Queen makes two real nice models ,a 3 1/2 inch and a 3 1/4 inch dogleg jack with D-2 steel blades small and large clip ..very nice may have to touch up the blades but still high Quality..

I've recently switched from a Case Stockman to a Case Texas Jack (4" size). Nice redbone handles, CV blades. It is a USA era model (1965-1969), and while it wasn't unused, it was in great shape and I forsee it providing many years of good service. Found it on ebay for a good price. If you want to try an older knife on Ebay, try a search for "vintage Case XX knife" or something along those lines and you should get a lot of hits. I also bought a smaller Case Jack knife that was a 1979 model but it was completely unused. There a lot of nice Case knives out there!

The Case small texas jack is nice, but a little smaller, and more pocketable at 3 1/2". If you can, handle one, and see what you think.
