Eric over on Clay's board has found the homepage of the company that distributes Jaguar-brand balisongs (the folks who put the S in POS).
http://www.double8.com

I suggest you write them a nice, friendly letter letting them know that you're disappointed with the quality of the pins they use and suggest they reconsider that aspect of their otherwise fine product.

If you've got one that just broke, I suggest sending it back to 'em and demanding a replacement. Maybe that'll encourage them to improve the product.

By the way, for those of you who frequent both boards, Afee=Eric. I signed up there before I realised I should use one name so everyone doesn't get confused. Stuck with "Eric" for consistancy on Clays site. Kinda mixed up, oh well.

I guess the letter writting campaign is a good idea. Pen to paper this lunch break.

That sounds like a great idea! I'll put it on my company letterhead for looks.

THIS SHOULD REALLY BE A GROUP THING!

Chuck, should an alternative pin be mentioned? What are your thoughts?

Kind regards,

Sabo

I'd take 'em a bit of retooling, they'll need bigger holes in the handles and bigger holes in the blades, but a stainless-steel chicago screw is the way to go. Fortunately, this change would be what machinists call "tool safe" since it involves removing metal from the tool rather than trying to add metal to the tool.

If Double 8 is the importer, then maybe they could talk to the manufactor on their next order to ask them to put a better pin in the knife. The manufactors over there, do not make an item, tell it's sold. You have to import very large numbers of knifes when you bring them in from China or Taiwan. Just about every manufactor require a $10,000 min order. Some, like Eagle, require you to buy 10,000 of each model of knife. So often even though you will see different wholesellers offering a knife, only one person is actually the importer, and they will sell off large numbers of knife to other wholesellers, because their min. shipment is just more than what they can manage to sell themselves. Thanks, JohnR7

Stop the presses as it will not do a thing.

First Double 8 is no longer in business. They are now known as Master Cutlery and yes they bring in the Jaguars as they bought the molds to make them and they have the exclusive rights to them.

You can send your letters to them but it will not do any good as I have suggested the very same thing for years to no avail. So I am getting the pins myself.

If you do send your letters send them to the attention of AJ per Mike Turber.

Their new site is being built by yours truly at www.mastercutlery.com

Look for some realy cool **** from me soon
