Jaguar pivot breaks!

I'm showing a friend of mine a "rollover", he says,"that's cool, do it again!" So I procede to do it again, and the pivot pin breaks off as it's rolling over my fingers! The bite handle goes flying and the other handle/blade just fall to the ground. Felt pretty stupid, but it was kind of funny. Kind of mad because I just got this one three weeks ago. I only practice maybe a half hour a day. Guess it was just defective?

I know how you feel, I got a Jaguar on a Saturday and the following Thursday a pin broke, a week or two later the other one broke! The best solution is one I got from www.balisongxtreme.com, one of it's "Tip of the Week" told me exactly how to fix one using finishing nails, it works great and they have not broken since. Simple and very effective.

it is illegal to pass balisongs thru customs but not a blade and two handles.. and a wad of pins.. jaguars are designed so that they can be shipped in parts to the USA and pieced together as such the qualty of the pins suffer bcause distributors can't afford the special pressure fit equipoment..

just blabbering.

Balisong in and of itself is not a illegal knife. But Custom's does have the option to judge each knife on it's own merit, to see if it comply's with the law or not. At times they well seize a shipment of 5" balisong or butterfly knives. One of the importers from China that I buy from, just had a very large shipment confiscated by customs. But I import 3" balisongs from Batangas, and I don't have any worry about customs taking them. They just don't fit the description, under the switchblade law. http://sr7.xoom.com/expojohnr7/phil http://sr7.xoom.com/expojohnr7/ButterflyB

Cooper thanks for the post! I just dropped by this forum to ask the same question. My Jaguar did exactly what yours did. Right in the middle of a turn the handle just 'flies' away! Thanks to everyone who posted the fix site. EXACTLY the information I was looking for!
