A friend from Australia sent me pictures of a pair of 51OT's he has in his collection with a question as to why the tangstamps are different. I don't have a good answer for him. Just as I don't understand how they can stay up so late at night in the middle of winter. Maybe someone here has a better guess than an "end of days" knife.

I don't know why he named them Jake and Emma either. Strange doings, if you ask me. And I don't know which is which either.

Those are real pretty, even if I am a fixed blade sorta guy. A little bit off task; but I got to ask: What is the closed and open length of the 51OT? Blade shape looks like it would be good for skinning if the knife is long enought to hold without getting hurt or it being awkward.

O.A. closed length is 4 3/4", the high carbon spear blade is 3 1/4". Catalogued from 1978-1981. This is the catalog slick from 1980.

Michael,
Does he know when they were purchased?
The Schrade/USA looks like a chinee Schrade with USA stamped under it...IMHO
Here is my knife collectors paranoia: "If they make it in China, mark it USA & then sell it in Australia, what is the big deal?"
No US laws were violated, China doesn't care about anyone's laws, and obviously neither Taylor or China care about Australia.

Maybe I am getting old, paranoid & cynical..........but in the words of one of my former clients; "Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean they aren't trying to get me." The older I get the more I appreciate the truth in his words! :D

TTTrrraaallllaaaa! I'm Michaels friend from Australia and asked him to post several knife photos for questions I wanted to raise. Is it possible to post the PH2 style photos as well? Both 51OT's are identical in every way except tang. The USA Tang 510 has mint old brown box, paperwork and Mint Old Timer Old style squared sheath and is from knife show late 70's so I know is original. The other is identical only with no Tang stamp model No. They are so BIG they were not even popular with Schrade buyers when released so I dont think Taylor would attempt a repo.
Dale .... I told my 'shrink' that everybody hates me...he said"Dont be silly everyone hasn't met you yet!"
Appreciate any responses.

...P.S. Jake and Emma are two of my grandkids and I had their photos on same memory stick as the knives...no mystery..although I do have names for some of my favourite knives!!!! Hoo Roo
