I’m sure everyone reading this is familiar with everything Vampire Gerbil has been through, another one of our long time members here Jake Evans has been going through a very similar situation.

You can read the first mention of this on the Buck Forum from right before Christmas.

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2842104#post2842104

Jake’s post from that thread,
”Its been a trying last few weeks, I'm trying hard to cope with my wife dying and I'm home on oxygen. I had the same strep pnemonia that killed Julie and it damn near got me as well. My right lung collapsed but they got to me in time.”

What he didn’t mention in his post was that with him laid up and on oxygen he lost the dog grooming business he and Julie owned and operate.

Jake is a proud man, but I know it’s been a struggle, with the funeral costs and all...he needs our help...and he needs it now.

Jake has been around BFC for as long as I have, maybe longer. If you’ve ever been to the For Sale forum you’ll know his name.

Please send what you can to:

Sorry, he can’t do PayPal.

Jake is the one who got me interested in Buck knives... I bought my 1st Buck from Jake! How could I have missed these threads? :( Jake, I'm so sorry! Check goes in the mail tomorrow! Get well soon!

Moderators you should make this post a sticky Jake is a long time member, and seems to need any best wishes he can get. I don’t know Jake other from the little I’ve seen of him on the forums, but a lot of members do and may not know what has happened to him. A person that needs help is a person that needs help, no matter who he is. And yes I think even good wishes or thoughts help.

Moderators what do you say?
Jake's situation is every bit tragic as VG's and he needs our help every bit as much.

Please make this a Sticky up with the VG threads so that people can see it.

Thnaks!

We will work something out.

I need a little time to recover from some other stuff. :D.

BTTT

This thread has gotten a lot of views, but not a lot of support.
I hope some of you are reading this, thinking for a minute what Jake is going through and realize that if we all help a little it could help a lot.

Gus, I know if you could you'd make this a Sticky at the top of the page. I'd really like to find out which humanitarian is against it?

What's the latest update on Jake? Keep fightin' and beat this pneumonia infection... wishing you a speedy recovery!

I'm hanging in there guys, just taking things day by day. I know one thing, I'm so sick of pills and needles I'll stay healthy just to avoid them. One thing for sure, you find out who your friends are when you go through this crap. Like the old Beatles song said....I get by with a little help from my friends.

Jake good to see you online. Atleast we now know your no junky. :) hang in there.

I thought I'd give you guys an update. The dr took me off the oxygen today, I'll be getting a sleep study done so they can set me up with a breathing machine to sleep with. They think the illness has brought on sleep aptnia. I was pleased to find out that the partially collapsed lung is almost back to normal. Another month to six weeks and I should be totally back on my feet. Thanks for the support a few of you have given me, its nice to know who your friends are.

Good news, Jake! :D Take it a day at a time & no shortcuts! Try some chicken soup... the patient's friend! :)

Jake, thanks for the update and I'm glad you're making progress and getting your health back. I think I understand what you're going through and I sure wish I could have been more help to you.

Stay strong my friend.

Hell Phil, you did plenty, you and Clydetz made me realize that I do have a few friends here on the forums. When things get better, I'll probably be moving to Georgia, my son keeps twisting my arm to do it and since he's the only family I have left, that I care about, its probably where I should be. I need to get away from all the memories in this house anyway. AT least I'll be able to hit that yearly knife show there in Atlanta and there should be a longer riding season, Althought the recent weather there makes me wonder.
