Jambiya or Khanjar

Hi,

I won these three daggers in an estate auction from interstate so I'm still waiting for them to arrive. Therefor, I only have the not so great picture from the listing (see below). They were listed as Yemeni Khanjar. From my brief research (and I very well may be wrong) I've concluded based on what I've read that they are either Yemeni Jambiya OR Omani Khanjar...but leaning towards Jambiyu. Someone set me straight?

One has the belt (whether it's original or not I don't know), but the other two are just the scabbard and the dagger itself. One smaller size. Is there any significance RE the size? Is a smaller one likely to be for a child or something like that?

They don't seem in amazing overall shape to be honest, but I did pick them up very cheap so I thought it was worth a shot. Two have quite bad rust on the blade. One seems stabilized as the rust has turned black, but does cover most of the blade. And the other one has quite a lot of active orange rust. So...

Just wondering what would be the best course of action to take with these daggers. Restorstion or just stop the rust and leave as is? I understand it's probably a "wait and see when you get them in person" situation for the most part, but some advice regarding the active rust would be much appreciated.

Also, while Im here, can anyone offer any insight into the possible age? And/or if they're authentic or just tourist souvenirs?

I will of course return once I receive them in person and post some detailed pictures so my questions can be more accurately answered, but it would be great if you can at least give me some advice RE the rust so I can be ready to take action once they arrive.

And fyi, I also posted/intend on posting the same thread on a couple of other forums too so I can get as much info as possible and tap into the widest range of knowledge.

Thanks

Nice knives, looks like more than tourist fare. You may want this moved to bernard levine's sub forum for more info.

Thanks for the reply mate. It would be nice if they aren't tourist souvenirs, but not realllly fussed about it. I knew nothing about them when I saw them and bought them purely out of interest, I think they're cool and they weren't exactly pricey so whatever really in terms of quality. But it's still nice to know.

The small Jambiya I can almost guarantee is tourist mumbo jumbo as the blade seems poor quality...Im almost certain it's two sheets welded together, but the other two I'm not so sure about.

I'll look into the sub forum you mentioned.

Cheers.

Hi mate would be interested in selling them I can use them for deco in the house

I'm not that knowledgeable about them however I do know that rhino horn is and has been the preferred handle material for any of those blade made on the Peninsula!! You might want to check on what your location has as far as restricted materials and then see if you can figure out what the handles actually are!!!!
Could have yourself diamonds in the rough!!!

Good luck! Keep us posted...
