Hi All;
New to this forum,and hope someone can help me. Digging thru my boxes of stuff that has not seen the light of day for years I found a knife I forgot I had. I do not collect or know much about knives. I think it is called a droppoint hunter by some,about 4 in. blade 8.1/2 in. overall with stag handle. It is in a leather sheath with belt loops on both sides. The left side of the blade is signed in script on two lines. Hand Made by
James B Lile
I do remember I received the knife in mid 1980 and I saw a sit that said Mr. Lile died in 1991. Do not know how to post pics. but can e-mail several.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to Bladeforums!
Not sure what your question is, but that knife is likely worth quite a bit of money.

Read this thread on how to post pictures:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=353471

Then post pictures on Bernard Levine's Knife Collecting & Identification Forum:

what type of info are you looking for?

as far as value, i would say it is quite a find. his handmade knives are quite valuable. after his death, the knives that bear his name have a dot above the "Lile" on the blade.

there are also licensed production knives made after his passing that look very similar to the original models, but can be had for well under $100.

given the date you received yours, the above doesn't apply. just some info i have picked up doing a little research on mr. lile.

Thanks for the information, I am not good on this computer but will try pics. tomorrow. mainly interested in when it was made and maybe a price to sell. not sure if I need to sell it yet but my have to.

bernard levine is an identification wizard!

im sure he can give you much of the info you are looking for including an approximate value.

I have several of his knives, made while he was still alive. Although Lile was best known for his Rambo knives, his hunters are first rate and desired by collectors.
