I was at an auction and bought a couple knives that were on a board and covered with a colored sealant. I got home and cleaned the knives up and they both are hand made James B Lyle knives. Both with stag handles and silver dollars in the bottoms of the handle. One is a Bowie and the other is like a Dagger style. Anyone know any knife groups or clubs located in Southwest Wisconsin?

Are you sure they are made by Lyle or made after he died? A lot of Lyle knives were made after he died.

First off, it should be Lile, not Lyle. Early Lile knives were hand inscribed like this...

Later, block letters (lasts name only) like this...

After Jimmy's death in 1991, the Lile Shop added a dot between the "I" and "L" like this...

Hope that helps!
