It was knife related, so I thought I would mention this little snippet from his interview in Playboy this month...

-snip-

playboy: A profile of you in this magazine 15 years ago mentioned that you had weapons in the trunk of your car: a crossbow, a lance, a 12-inch knife and a whip. Why were you driving around with an arsenal?
spader: I grew up with weaponry of all kinds. I was given a bb gun and a .22 rifle. I had air-gun pistols and slingshots. I've carried a knife on me since I was 10. [pulls out a large pocketknife and opens the blade]
playboy: Do you ever forget to take that out of your pocket at the airport?
spader: It doesn't go with me to the airport. It goes in a suitcase. When I get to wherever, I take it out of the suitcase.
playboy: Do you carry that knife with you all the time, or do you have a collection from which to choose?
spader: I've got a bunch of knives. For the past six months I've been carrying this because it seems to be the most efficient. It's an excellent knife.

-snip-

anyway, I thought it was interesting...

I always knew there was a reason I liked Spader. He IS cool! Gotta love any Hollywood type who isn't afraid of a knife or a gun. And who isn't afraid to say so publicly!

At least he seems responsible about it and isn't acting like a loon! Even though most celebs suck, if they gave knives a positive feeling, all the better.

What's really funny is that Playboy inserts [pulls out a large pocketknife and opens the blade]...what do you want to bet it was probably a regular size pocket knife!

Spader is cool, his protrayal of attorney Alan Shore on "The Practise" and "Boston Legal" has been some of the funniest TV I have ever seen.

I would like to see the knife. I'm pretty sure that what the writer called large, we would call mid sized or even small. I'm really glad that he mentioned putting the knife in a suitcase because there are many people who don't realize that it is perfectly legal to put knives in checked baggage.

Playboy (I got a few hundred of them) has done a lot for knives, perhaps more than the knife mags. They show case knives to millions, not just a few thousand knife nuts.

They often have Benchmades and Spyderco's in their "gear for guys","gifts for Dad" type articals. A few times a year they will have a knife in the mag somewhere.

Schrade/ Old Timer used to run a lot of ads in Playboy. Think about it. Blade has a circulation of 25,000. While Playboy reaches millions of men.

This months issue is outstanding BTW.

Saw the family over the weekend. Had my brand spankin new copy of Blade in my truck. My sister, who is an uber Orlando Bloom fan, liberated my magazine!

In a few years, I'll have to worry about my little brother visiting me and liberating my Playboys! He has taken my Knifeworlds lately.

an uber Orlando Bloom fan

Okay, I've tried looking at this from every possible angle and I still can't figure it out. So...what does this mean anywho?

but whats that got to do with the topic? hmm Maybe bloom likes knives too heh doubt it. he looks like to much of a panzy.

Maybe it has to do with the new movie coming out this month, Kingdom of Heaven (lots of swords, knives, etc.)?

Orlando Bloom reminds me of Doogie Howser. Just darker hair. Hope they're not trying to make this guy into an action type hero...

The newest Blade magazine's cover I had had Orlando on it.

If Spader deanimated some Al Qaeda with that Dork Ops wooden knife, he's okay in my book.

OY! Thanks for enlightening this ignoramus. :footinmou I never would have thought that was someone's name. :o  :(

Guess I should get outta this cave some more. :D
