It is the weekend of March 17 & 18, 2007. Saturday and Sunday, with set-up on Friday, March 16.

I thought that I would post the date for the Jamestown MTA event a bit early (!) this year as it is the 400th Anniversay Year for Jamestown and things are really popping there. I suggest that any of you planning to attend should seriously consider making reservations in Williamsburg now.

MTA is a "Timeline Event", an event wherein groups re-enacting all sorts of periods in history set up camps and engage in living history for the public. My group, the Anglo-Saxon Camp, joined forces with the Ostvikings this past March to re-enact the defense of one of Alfred the Great's burhs, or fortified towns, against a Viking attack in the 880s CE period. There are men-at-arms from the Wars of the Roses, Rogers Rangers from the French and Indian War, Rev War types, not too many War Between the States types, and various more modern sorts. One year they had a Korean War MASH unit set up, but no Hot Lips Houlihan, sadly.

PLEASE, if you want to discuss gear for these types of events, take it over to the "Swords" forum.

I wanted to attend the Viking demonstration you told me about last year, it looks to be a very informative and fun festival next year. Might go for the day.

Thanks for the 411.

Just a reminder that this event is coming up. Our tactical demonstration will be joint with a Vikling re-enactment group and we will be doing a small version of a shield wall battle (a shield wall skirmish?) but I am not certain which day.
