Hey All,

I've been working with Michael Janich to help bring his newly designed karambit into existence. Our goal was to have a few ready for the Blade Show, and the picture below is the first one to be completed. Mike put alot of thought into how a karambit functions and also the limitations of existing designs, and came up with the "Megarambit"! A quick overview of the the thought behind the design; (3) cutting edges with the rear hook for trapping / control / and or digging, the mass on the upper part of the blade will add inertia and some real punch to a reverse-spin cut, chisel ground bevels to improve the edge geometry aiding in cutting performance.

Here are the knife spec's

3/16" thk S30V
Length from back of ring to tip = 8 1/8"
(3) sharpened edges / chisel ground
3 1/2" blade length on concave edge
Tip to tip (diagonal) across convex edge is 5 1/2"
Textured 1/8" thk G-10 scales
Weight = 9.4 oz's

For those of you who might be attending the Blade Show you can handle it live, and or ask Mike first hand about the design, as he will be there as well. Mike put alot of thought into the concept and seems to be very pleased with the outcome.

Thanks for taking a look,

That would be nice but illegal to carry as it is double edged. If I can;t carry it legally and I use it to defend myself, I'm being charged as well.

Well thought out? yes.
Well thought out for use in civilain blade defensive work? No.

Also the edge may not meet the restrictions for length of blade carry in some locales.

I'd rather see the design taken to street legal with one edge and in fact have a Strider produced Tarani being customized for me that has the outside edge softened to "false edge" status.
