So I finished my son's birthday present today. Started it late winter and have been slow of gather the tools (1x30 sander, drill press) I needed to finish. I swapped the wood scales for green Micarta and also did the Kydex sheath. The Kydex was much easier then I expected to work with. I hope my son will have a chance to use this skinner as he is a teacher in Arctic Alaska.

Well, that's a much nicer job than I've done on kit knives but at least I still have all my toes! :p

Seriously though, that's a worthy effort and I'm sure your son will greatly appreciate all the effort you put in on his behalf.

(The kydex is somewhat less than traditional but we'll give you a pass (on effort alone) this time around. ;))

Definitely nicer than my early attempts at kit knives!

Very nice.

Nice work, kudos to you as I haven't made any sort of knife yet. What a birthday present!
