January 2014 Challenge Discussion Thread

Me being the noob and this my first challenge, do I edit my "yes chef" post to show my photos and whatnot, or post that add a new post? I'm thinking it's edit, but don't want to bugger it up.

I'm getting concerned....no one else has posted photos yet. Is it bad form to post early? Did I commit premature e-postulation?

Eh, look at the whittling one. Only about a third of the people who signed up actually posted, and two on the very last day. I wouldn't worry were I you.

I wouldn't worry about it too much Greg. You good dawg, lol.

I said yes to the whittling one, however, I did not get a chance to finish my entry. For some reason every single time I went to do it, I was interrupted to do something else. It has become such a thing (even after the contest closure) that I can go pick up the wood, just to get someone to call me or need me. It's uncanny. Maybe I should switch wood, LOL

For me it looks like the window might close without me getting in. We have had ten days now below -10 so far in January.

It may warm up this weekend, but there is more freezing rain in the forecast. I have the raw materials, it is just hard to generate enough heat at -18 to accomplish what I need to do. I may skirt in under the wire. But believe me it is not a strategic move. Winter here has been somewhat punishing this year. Even by my standards. We are in the deep freeze until we get some ice, then it's back to the deep freeze.

Up at my camp it is a challenge just to stand up, much less cook.

Midnight Eastern time I reckon, but I don't have a lot emotionally invested so it might be when I wake up the following day or something. I might forget entirely about it. Who knows? Why, what do you have in mind?

Just trying to figure out a time when I can get outside and make this happen. I am watching my almost two year old all week and teach Thursday evening so Friday is the only time I'll probably have a chance to do it as long as my wife can get home early enough.

Midnight should be good...... Thanks

Holy smokes, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity in the January cooking challenge Mr. E!

Congrats to mountainmist for winning and to GSO for a killer entry as well.

What a great place this is, indeed!

Congrats gents. That was a good post MM. Really enjoyed seeing the process.
