"JAP 2" axes

No, those did not follow me home.
I don't see that kind of axes in my neck of the woods, so I had to take few pictures to share with you guys.
I cannot find any info about those. I love the shape of the big one: That brutal 5-6 lbs of steel had wonderful ring when hit with Nicholson file. Too bad, I did not like the crack going sideways.
The smaller one had deformed eye and the edge seemed soft.

I don't know anything about them but I would guess that the heavy one is a splitting axe based on the shape. I surmise that whoever made these did not have access to excellent handle wood and had to form large eyes to accept a large volume of inferior wood.

These are very cool. I love seeing this kind of stuff.
